To stop hiccups: Remedies for hiccups: We have tried home remedies for every ailment or health problem out there. Some Ayurvedic medicines have also been in regular use for years. Such medicines or home remedies are also used when vomiting, nausea or hiccups occur. Every common disease has its medicine which we keep at home. But hiccups are a problem that neither we have any medicine nor can it stop in an hour.

Causes of hiccups

  • Usually when we get hiccups it is said that someone misses you when you get hiccups. But it doesn't happen at all because of change in life style, taking more tension and smoking, hiccups start happening suddenly.
  • So, especially people who eat leaf tobacco have hiccups when they dissolve the tobacco-containing spit instead of spitting it out.
  • The biggest cause of hiccups is muscle contraction of the diaphragm and rib muscles between the stomach and lungs. Due to the contraction of the diaphragm, the lungs begin to rapidly draw air in, causing one to start hiccups.
  • Apart from this, hiccups occur even when the stomach feels full after eating food or gas. According to scientists, excessive movement and disturbances in the digestive or respiratory tract can cause hiccups. Eating hot, spicy and hot foods can also cause hiccups


To stop hiccups

  • There is no specific medicine to stop hiccups, but we usually try the following remedies if we get hiccups and due to this, the hiccups stop.

  • Drinking water: Water is the most tried remedy to stop hiccups. Drink a glass of water slowly without stopping between breaths. This is the oldest trick that we have been using for years, because it works wonderfully. When you drink water slowly, the problem of hiccups will get relief.
  • Hold your breath: Hold your breath for a few seconds. Even by doing this, hiccups stop.
  • Eat sugar: This will become your favorite trick after today. Yes, if you have hiccups, put half a teaspoon of sugar on your tongue. Gradually it will be swallowed and the hiccups also stop.
  • Gargle with ice water: Gargle with ice water around the throat for 30 seconds. It gives relief from hiccups very quickly.

Pull the tongue gently: 

  • This may sound a little awkward to you but this trick works too. For this, gently pull your tongue once or twice. In such a situation, if you are experiencing hiccups, you can use this trick.
  • Breathe into a paper bag : Place a paper bag over your mouth. Cover your nose too. Now slowly inflate the paper bag while breathing in and out. By doing this, hiccups are relieved.
  • Taking a pinch of ginger and ghee and licking it with a spoonful of ghee gives relief from hiccups.
  • Mixture of lindi pepper powder and peacock feather ashes and licked with honey gives immediate relief from hiccups and vomiting.
Consuming lemon juice gives relief from hiccups.
