Educational Qualification
- Candidate must have passed 10th standard examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 examination system) with minimum 50% marks and also possess National Trade Certificate in Notified Trade issued by NCVT/SCVT. For more information study the official notification.
Age limit
- The age of the candidate applying for this Railway Apprentice Recruitment is required to be between 15 years to 24 years.

Selection process
- Selection of candidates for the training slot of a unit of Eastern Railway will be done on the basis of merit prepared in respect of all the eligible candidates who have applied against the notification. The merit list will be prepared based on the data/details filled by the candidates in the online application form. Formula given below in para 5 iii will be followed for determining merit. If a candidate fills wrong details, his/her candidature will be canceled as soon as the discrepancy comes to the notice of Railway Administration.
- The shortlist for Document Verification (DV) will be based on the average marks in Matriculation and ITI. Formula given below in para 5 iii will be followed for determining merit. Merit list will be prepared trade/unit/community wise. Candidate should note that no central merit list will be prepared.
- A merit list will be prepared for the eligible candidates taking the average of the percentage marks secured by the candidates in both matriculation (with minimum 50% (aggregate) marks) and ITI examination giving equal weightage to both. For example – a candidate has secured 80.58% marks in Matric examination and 91.68% marks in ITI, then the marks considered for selection will be ½ [80.58 + 91.68] = 86.13.
