Good news for farmers

Announcing this, the Minister said that the Chief Minister of Gujarat has taken public useful decisions for the well-being of the people, 80 percent rains have occurred in July, while now there is a deficit of rains. Crops are drying up despite water in reservoirs. There have been many representations from the farmers to the Minister of Agriculture in this regard and the importance of providing electricity and water has been announced, currently electricity is provided to the farmers for 8 hours instead of which now 10 hours will be provided. In which 10 hours of electricity will be provided in Kutch, Mehsana, Surendranagar, Kheda, Patan, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Ahmedabad, Dwarka, Banaskantha, Junagadh, Sabarkantha districts. This decision of the government will benefit 12 lakh farmers.

A decision was taken to release the water

Farmer oriented decision has been taken to release water from Narmada. Water will also be released from 14 pipelines under the Sujalam Suflam scheme. Sanand and surrounding areas where paddy is grown will also be given water in two-three days. 80 percent of the dams have been filled and water will be released from the rest of the dams for agriculture.

Water Supply Minister Kunvarji Bavlia said in this regard that water will be provided for irrigation in the areas of North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Central Gujarat as per the requirement of the farmers. Water will be released for irrigation from the dams which have more than 80 percent water in the dams of the state including Sardar Sarovar. The state has received 78% of the average rainfall till July. But in the entire month of August, there has been very little rain except for isolated showers. So, the need for water has arisen to save the Kharif crops in the rain-deprived state.
