Diwali is a 5 day festival. This festival begins with Dhanteras. This day is also called Yama Panchak Day. During this time, the worship of Yamaraja, Vaidharaja Dhanvantari, and Mother Lakshmi is of special importance. This year Adivali festival will last for 6 days due to one padar (extra day).

The following are the auspicious Diwali Murhats this year in this five-day long festival.


Dhanteras – 10 November 2023 starts at 12:35 PM and ends on 11 November 2023 at 1:57 PM.
Kali Chaudhas – 11 November 2023 starts at 1:57 PM and ends on 12 November 12:12 PM.
Diwali – Commences on 12 November 2023 at 12:12 PM and ends on 13 November at 2:41 PM.
Padatar Divas and Govardhan Puja – 12th November at 2:36 PM and 13th November all day
Leap Year – 14 November 2023 will be celebrated from dawn.
Bhaibij – 15 November 2023 Bhaibij will be celebrated as per Uday Tithi.


In all these festivals Dhanteras is associated with Yamaraj. There is no risk of health by worshiping Dhanvantari and sudden death by making Yamdiva at home. Yamdiva has special significance on this day. Also on this day Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped. It is believed that buying silver coins and silver utensils on this day is considered auspicious. Idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha are bought for Nisha Pujan on the day of Diwali and Chopda Pujan is important on Diwali.
