Girnar Green Parikrama: Girnar Parikrama Root: Girnar Parikram Root: Green Parikrama is held every year in Junagadh. This Parikrama, which is held after Diwali, connects people with nature and also has a lot of religious significance. The religious importance of Leeli Parikrama held every year in the Girnar mountain area of Junagadh is also high. This year too, Leeli Parikrama will be held. Then lakhs of people come from other districts including Junagadh to participate in this green circumambulation. Generally Girnar's green circumambulation starts from Kartak Sud Agiyaras.

  • It is estimated that around 15 lakh pilgrims will flock to Parikrama this year.


































Girnar circumnavigation route

5 km from Junagadh city. In the lap of Garwa Girnar, which is far away, the pilgrims who have come for the circumambulation at the foothills of Bhavanath gather on Kartak Sud Agiyarase from the morning. On the same day at midnight, the Parikrama is started with the sound of Bandhuka by lighting the lamp in the presence of numerous devotees along with Saints-Mahantos, District Administrative Officers and many leaders.

On the next day, the pilgrims walk the path while observing and rejoicing in this Kamangari Dharam Prakruti. Fatigue during the day is slightly less on the first day. And for lunch all the pilgrims prepare their own meal. Thus, the next day's night stay is done at Jinabawani Madhi. This is the first vacation for pilgrims. Pilgrims have to cover 12 km to reach here. As much distance as it covers. Vadliwala Mataji's place is located on this route. After that comes Jinabawani Madhi. Here, during the Nawabi period, a saint named Jinabawa used to play music. Hence it is known as Jinabawani Madhi.

From the morning of the third day, exhausted and refreshed, the pilgrims move forward chanting slogans like Jai Girnari, Jai Bholenath, Har Har Mahadev, Jai Gurudat. By noon, pilgrims rest and eat breakfast brought with them or are seen cooking. And as soon as the evening falls, they find a place anywhere in the dense forest and make a camp. Thus, the night stay of the third day is done in Malawela. This place is a very scenic spot in the middle of the forest of Girnar. On the third day, pilgrims cover a distance of approximately 8 km.

Very tall vines grow here. Where the sun's rays cannot reach even during the day and that is why it is named Malvelela. Wherever at night, bhajans and rasamandali are organized by bhajaniks. Thus the pilgrims exhaust their fatigue in an environment full of devotion and natural beauty. On the morning of the 14th everyone starts walking from there.

On the morning of the fourth day, the caravan of pilgrims leaves Malvelela and proceeds southwards through Girnar East. And slowly walking forward taking rests. As the Yatra is the final leg on this day, physically challenged Buddhist pilgrims proceed slowly taking rest. And reaches Bordevi in the evening. Thus the fourth day and last night stay of the circumambulation comes here. Bordevi Mataji's Shikharband temple is located in the place of Bordevi Mataji, which is full of beauty and natural beauty, where there is a dense forest.

On the last and fifth day of the Yatra i.e. Kartak Sud Poonam Dev Diwali all the pilgrims turn towards Bhavanath. Thus, many true pilgrims of this Yatra also climb Girnar. And there all the shrines have darshan. Apart from that, the pilgrims visit Bhavanath Mahadev and then bathe in Damodar Kund and complete this journey. Thus this Parikrama Yatra started from Kartak Sud Agiyaras ends on Diwali.

The Green Parikrama held in Girnar is held every year according to the tithi. So this year also it will be held from Kartak Agiyaras to Kartak Sud Poonam.
