However, meteorologists have warned that cyclones often change track from their estimated path. As seen in the Cyclone 'Biparjoy' storm that formed in the Arabian Sea in June, 'Biparjoy' initially moved in a north-westerly direction and then passed over Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan.
News agency PTI said that this will be the second cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea this year. According to the formula adopted for naming cyclones in the Indian Ocean region, this storm will be named 'Tej'. According to the IMD, Cyclone Tej will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm on Sunday and is likely to move towards the southern coast of Oman and neighboring Yemen. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of heavy winds and rain in many areas including Mumbai.

In the next 12 hours, the cyclone will intensify and it will turn into a very severe cyclonic storm. In the next 24 hours too, it will become more intense and strong winds will blow. It will cross the Oman coast in the meantime. It is expected to cross around October 25.
