International Gita Mahotsav 2022 Celebrated at: Kurukshetra

Srimad Bhagvad Gita is the holy book of Hindus and Gita Jayanti Samaroh is dedicated to the birth of Srimad Bhagvad Gita. The festival is very sacred to Hindus and is celebrated with immense religious fervor and dedication.


The festival is celebrated mainly in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The venue of the festival adds to the sacredness of the event. Kurukshetra is the land where celestial song 'Bhagwad Gita' is believed to have been delivered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. The place also holds significance as the famous sage Manu wrote Manusmriti here. The Rig Veda and the Sama Veda were also composed here. Apart from Lord Krishna, the land was visited by divine personalities like Gautama Buddha and eminent Sikh.

Srimad Bhagwad Gita has since its inception, been the philosophical guide and spiritual teacher for Hindus. In Gita, Lord Krishna has taught numerous lessons to Arjuna, which are considered to be ideal means of living one’s life. The holy scripture of Hindu mythology provides all the solutions for any problem of life.


During the Gita Jayanti Samaroh devotees and pilgrims from all over India gather at Kurukshetra. A ritual observed to be followed by everyone is to take bath in holy water of the sacred tanks - Sannihit Sarovar and Brahma Sarovar. The whole environment becomes divine and spiritual with numerous activities being organised.


The weeklong festival is celebrated with major attractions like shloka recital, dance performances, Bhagwad Katha reading, Bhajans, Dramas, Book Exhibitions and free Medical check-up camps. The Samaroh is organised by Kurukshetra Development Board, Haryana Tourism, District Administration, North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala and Information and Public Relations Department Haryana.










HOW TO REACH
By Air - The closest airport is at Chandigarh, about 82 kms. away.


By Rail - Kurukshetra railway station is located on main Delhi-Ambala railway line. There are direct trains from important cities to Kurukshetra. The other railhead, Ambala Cantonment is 44 kms. from Kurukshetra. Many number of trains going to north from Delhi halt at Kurukshetra.


By Road - Kurukshetra is well-connected by road. It is about 160 kms. from Delhi, 39 kms. from Karnal and 40 kms. from Ambala. It is 6 kms. from Pipli, an important road junction on the National Highway No. 1.


How to give a quiz.
Five multiple choice questions will be asked daily from November 1 to November 18.
Language will be Hindi and English.
Time to fill questions will be 24 hours.
