There are two types of laws in relation to the holidays and other facilities available to the employees-

The Factories Act, 1948 for the workers of factories

Shops & Commercial Establishments Act for shops and offices and other types of institutions

According to the facts given in these, the employees get the following types of holidays-

Casual Leave-CL (Casual Leave): When for some reason, you have to take a sudden leave, it is called Casual Leave. As if some important work has happened at home or the car has been missed.

Medical leave: Medical leave can be taken when the employee falls ill or gets injured, or in case of any other kind of physical problem.

Earned Leave-EL (EL): You do not need any specific reason for this leave. You get this leave in return for continuous work. Hence it is called Earned Leave-EL.

Privilege leave-PL (PL): It means 'concessional leave'. PL, like EL, is received in return for a certain number of days of work, except the rules for their number are different.

You can take EL or PL holidays for an already created plan. For example, to go for a walk with the children on their holidays or to take part in some domestic event. Such as birthday, anniversary and so on.

Maternity leave: Women employees get maternity leave when they are pregnant, nearing delivery and for some time after the birth of the child.

Paternity Leave (Paternity Leave): Male employees also get paternity leave (paternity leave) for taking care of wife and child when the wife becomes pregnant.

Sabbatical leave: Leave can be taken without pay to pursue a course, training or studies to enhance one's skills. This is called sabbatical leave (study leave).
