To apply for a ration card, you can apply online by visiting your state’s food portal. For example, if you live in Uttar Pradesh, you need to visit the website https://fcs.up.gov.in/FoodPortal.aspx. From here you need to download the ration card form. To get a ration card, you need to provide Aadhaar card, voter card, driving license or any ID. After applying, you have to pay a fee of Rs 5 to 45. After submitting the form, it is sent for field verification. Verification is completed within 30 days. Your ration card will be ready as soon as this process is completed.

Follow the steps below to apply online
- Go to your state food department website.
- Find the link like “Add member to ration card” or “Add name to ration card” .
- Click on the link and open the application form.
- Fill the required information in the form , such as your name , ration card number , child’s name , date of birth , residence and Aadhaar card number.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents along with your application.
- Pay the application fee.
- Submit the application.
After submitting the application , you will receive an application number. You can use this application number to check the status of your application .
Once the application is verified , the child’s name will be added to your ration card. This process usually takes 10-15 days.

How much is the application fee for adding a child’s name ?
Most of the states providing the above online name addition service charge an application fee of Rs 50 for adding this child’s name. It is important to note here that the age of the child should be less than 18 years to add the child’s name in the ration card. If the child is above 18 years of age, he/she has to apply for a separate ration card.
