Lockdown in Corona hotspot may prolong after May 3: PM hints at meeting with CMs


The second phase of the nationwide lockdown, which was imposed to combat the Corona crisis, is coming to an end on May 3. Earlier on Monday, the Prime Minister held a video conference with the chief ministers of various states. According to basic details, at the meeting, the Prime Minister asked the Chief Ministers to prepare a plan for the various phases of opening the lockdown. He made various suggestions to the Prime Minister to define the Red, Orange, Green Zones and to restore public life there in phases. However, four states insisted on extending the lockdown. After a video conference with Koro's prime minister, Bengal CM Mamata hinted that the lockdown would be extended till May 21.




According to basic details, the meeting indicated to the Prime Minister that the lockdown would be extended where the impact of the Corona crisis is more severe. District-wise exemption will be given in the states where the situation is under control. With this the Prime Minister assured the Chief Ministers not to worry about the economic situation and asked them to take decisions pertaining to the epidemic without worrying about the economy.

While Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had suggested extending the lockdown.
